Bottelary
Primary School, Feeding Scheme, Kraaifontein
|
|
Amanda, Francois, Hester
and their team are wonderful people that together with several people in the
community try to better the lives of farm kids in Kraaifontein. They do a
feeding scheme and upliftment programme every Sunday for about 120 farm kids that
comes from various farms in the Bottelary area. Some of these children form
part of the 400 pupils from Bottelary Primary School, but
several of these children are not in school.
The reality is that most
of these children do not even get a sandwich to school for lunch time, and
therefore the Sunday feeding process is so important to take the kids out of
the difficult circumstances at home and to provide them with lunch during the
weekends. Since no child can ever learn on an empty tummy, it is a necessity to
establish a sustainable feeding scheme as part of this project.
Helping Angels will also
be supporting the team with their dream of building a community centre for
these children that live in very difficult circumstances and to teach these
wonderful kids life skills so that they can rise above their circumstances as
they grow older to enable them to create an excellent future for themselves.

Colleen’s
Place of Hope, Mitchells Plain
|
|
Colleen
is currently looking after 30 kids, aged from infants
to 18 years. What makes this home so wonderful is that
she raises each of these kids as her own child, with
lots of love and care. She does not have help except
for the older kids helping with the younger ones and
rely on volunteers to help as much as possible.
The
stories of what happened to some of these children are
scary and sad, people leaving kids on their own without
food and care, horrid tales of abuse and abandonment.
And this wonderful woman takes them in and trusts that
God will provide enough food for them all. They need
regular food donations and funds towards clothes, toiletries
and school needs which Helping Angels is helping with
as much as possible. We also organise fun events for
these wonderful children to expose them to new experiences
and to empower them with self-confidence in their capabilities.

Pensioners
Project, Brooklyn
|
|
Helping
Angels is working with Communicare social workers in
helping the struggling pensioners in Reyger Court, Brooklyn.
These sweet pensioners pay about 30% of their pension
for rent, and are left with extremely little money for
food, medical expenses, etc.
Our
outreach program is to assist these pensioners with
food and toiletries, and since we have started the need
list have grown from 20 to 60 pensioners that requires
regular food handouts. Their needs are great, and whenever
we visit them we can see how great the need is, with
no food in their cupboards or fridges.
These
are humble, sweet pensioners, who are desperately struggling
and forgotten by their families, but with regular visits
and food handouts they will be reminded that they are
cared for and not forgotten!

House
of Hope soup kitchen, Brackenfell
|
|
Marlene
runs a soup kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday and feeds
about 110 homeless adults and kids per week. These very
poor people don’t have money for a hot meal and most
times the meal they get at House of Hope is their only
meal for the day. Some of them walk 10 km from the township
to get a cup of soup.
Helping
Angels is helping Marlene to get in regular donation
of food items, clothing items and blankets, to sustain
this soup kitchen and to be able to provide for the
most basic needs of the homeless.

House El Roi, Alexandra Mental Hospital, Maitland
|
|
House El Roi in getting in donations for much needed fresh fruit and veggies,
groceries and general items that they need and we also host fun days and events
for the lovely residents. They are mentally disabled, but doing fine while on
medication, but most of them are like 6/7 year olds and as such require loads
of love and special care.

Mamawethu
House of Safety, Bellville
|
|
Jellie
and her husband Eelke is the loving house mom and dad
for our new joined venture, which is a safe house for
abandoned and abused babies in Bellville. Helping Angels
are so proud to be involved with this wonderful project.
We will be taking in 6 children between the ages of
0-5 years. Since a safe house is only a temporary home
for a child for a few months while they are awaiting
court cases due to abuse and/or neglect, children will
come and go in this loving home, but they will all get
the love and care they so greatly deserve from this
loving house mom and dad!!
Helping
Angels will be actively involved in fundraising for
our safe house, as well as supporting Jellie with all
the safe house’s needs and requirements, working in
the safe house and helping Jellie making a difference
in these little angels’ lifes!
