Helping Jamie Burger – 31 Mar 2010 |
|
Helping Angels donated R1000 to Jamie’s family to assist them with his
medical expenses. Here is Jamie’s story:
On the 30th of March 2008, 1 year old Jamie Burger was rushed to the
Stellenbosch Medi-Clinic hospital in the early hours of the morning after
suffering from fever convulsions. Over the next couple of days, the doctors
tried to bring his seizures under control and break the fever that was still
spiking regularly, but to no avail. Jamie
was admitted to the Red Cross hospital where he immediately received the
necessary treatment that Medi Clinic was not able to provide. Jamie’s brain
activity was monitored more closely and administered medicine to reduce the
number of seizures. Another brain scan was done, but this time it was what
Jamie’s parents feared most. It showed that he had sustained the maximum amount
of damage on both sides of the brain.
Jamie is currently in the care of the kind staff of
Esperanza old age home, who give him all the love and attention that he needs.
But it’s not an easy task. Jamie’s daily and medical bills, together with
treatment given by various therapists are in excess of R12 000 per month.
Please help us make the remainder of Jamie’s life as comfortable as possible.
Any donation or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Mamawethu House of Safety – 14 & 23 Jan 2010
|
|
Mamawethu House of Safety in Bellville is now up and running
and we currently have two little angels in our care. Jellie (the house mom)
named them Mark and Sam, since they had no names because they were abandoned
right after birth. Mark was a premature baby and he is now 3 months, and Sam is
1 month old but much bigger than Mark.
Both of these little angels deserve the best in the
world, and until the courts decide where they will be placed they will get all
the love in the world from Jellie and her husband Eelke and their family of
adopted children, that loves these little angels as part of their family!
Helping Angels were happy to be able to sponsor Mamawethu with tins of milk
formula, nappies, bottles and clothes. We would like to also thank Elizabeth
Coetzee and Trevor Cohen for their donations that will really help this safe
house very much! |
